Because my first name is exceptionally long.

I am Raleigh-Elizabeth.  I’m a twenty-something in New York City working FT, interning PT, and finishing up my graduate work.  I have big dreams of writing a biography of Alger Hiss’s wife, Prossy, and children’s storybooks.  She worked for Golden Books, so it’s a fitting duo.

I also dream of opening my own B+B with a kitchen to end all kitchens.

I love to cook.

I spend vast amounts of time in the kitchen and am wildly obsessed with all cooking paraphernalia, especially fancy aprons, OXO gadgets, and anything from Anthropologie.

I work in an Architecture department and am amazed by the way the brains around me work.  I saved up for five months to get a Design Out of Reach ghost chair.  It sits under an Althorp secretary, which sums up my design style perfectly.

The love of my life is a wee dog named Woodrow Magnus Fat Puppy the Great.  We call him Puppy.  Or Fluffernutter.  Or Pupsicle (if it’s cold).  Dogman when he’s being goofy.  Poodles and Boodles.  He sort of responds to everything and nothing, and that’s my fault for giving him so many names.  But his darling self deserves a new name for each darling way.

He hates when I do this to him.

This too.

The other love of my life is right there.

He is not forced to wear silly outfits like the pup.

He’s an officer in the United States Marine Corps.

And he really likes to give me stuff that says so.

I think they should open a base in New York just so we could be closer, but thankfully, the good people on Bolt Bus keep us well connected.

We have a nice love story.  Read it here.

Also, I idolize my mother.  You’ll read a lot about her here.

I come from a Modern American Family.  Within the confines of my immediate family, i.e., siblings and parents, we have:

- four mothers

- two fathers

- six children

- collectively practice as Presbyterians, Episcopalians, Non-Believers, Jews, and even Jehovah’s Witnesses.  We’ve got two of those.

I am the oldest of the motley crew.  I am my mother and father’s only child.  My father remarried and had two boys.  That marriage dissolved and their mother remarried a widower with two daughters, both of whom I adore.  My father remarried and now has a third son.

This little guy.

I am frequently asked if he is my child.

I only hope that when I do have children, they are half as sweet as this little guy is.

I read voraciously.  I don’t run enough.  I’m in a hip-hop dance crew.  That’s really everything there is to know.
